Dancer/Skater/Cutie posted a recent exhibition skate to YouTube the other day. (baseball boy is the camera-man, by the way; not too shabby!) Since I get folks asking about how she's doing since the accident from time to time, I thought you might get a kick out of it. She choreographed it to Start Wearing Purple by this wild punky-ish band called Gogol Bordello that makes me want to rock out whenever I hear it (and yes, it's on the iPod). Clearly, it makes D/S/C wanna rock out too. (the rink had a problem with the sound at the beginning, so if you want to hear the tune full out, look/listen here.)
It also reminds me of that poem called Warning ("when i am an old woman I shall wear purple") ... how it stakes a claim for more playing outside the lines and embracing life without restraint. Given what D/S/C went through, and how there's never a guarantee anyway, maybe, as the song says: we should just start wearing purple now.
