I feel like I've been running non-stop since last week.
There was writing group over the weekend, a friend from out-of-town overnight on Sunday. Work has been intense with deadlines (and tuesday we were out of the office most of the day to watch the inauguration). I've worked late every night ('cept one where i had dinner with dad - up from florida for a week - and my sis) in an effort to get everything done that I need to. On Monday, there was much snow-shoveling. Yet somehow, I still managed to haul ass to the gym for a final conditioning walk pre-mara. And today I leave for Miami.
I'm going into the office for a bit this morning to try to wrap up a project, then off to the airport; Sue is house-sitting while I'm gone (how nice not to have to arrange to stop my mail or worry about hiring someone to shovel my walks if it snows while i'm gone.) (check in on her blog; i imagine she'll get around to telling her 'adventures' of the last month and why house-sitting for me is so appealing ...). She's also taking me to the airport today (how sweet); the flight's @4ish ... arrives just before 7. I'm staying with a cousin tonight outside of Miami; seemed crazy to be so close and not visit, but with the week as its been, I'm wishing maybe I'd just planned to leave tomorrow - it would have given me a little breathing room tonight. As it stands, other than the stuff I need for the mara that was well thought out and planned, I just threw things in the suitcase. There's a bathing suit, and I think there are at least two proper outfits, the rest is anybody's guess (too late now).
Saturday after lunch w/the cuz and crew, I'll make my way down to my hotel in Miami, check in and get my "bib," and then join the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network Team for a "carbo load" dinner around 6 that night. (i'm going to be walking 80% of the course - only running about 20% - do i really need to carbo load?) We meet up again at the ungodly hour of 5:15 in the hotel lobby to head over to the starting line for a 6:15 start. (more info on the beautiful course that takes us across inter-coastal waterway bridges and through south beach, etc. can be found here ...)
Since I managed to get the fab Utterli to work, I plan to post some audio files from the mara itself ... and I'll post photos when I'm settled back at Dad's place on Florida's west coast on Sunday night (or maybe monday ... maybe sunday after the mara's over i'll just chill and hang ...)
I've barely thought of the post-mara; it's going to be WARM there. And I'm going to have 5 days to hang in the sunshine; how luscious.
(but good god, what will i write about when the mara's over?)
